Areas We Serve
Finding the right trauma therapist should not depend on where you live.
Virtual PTSD and Trauma Therapy Across Ontario
Whether you are in downtown Toronto, a smaller Northern Ontario community, or anywhere in between, you deserve access to evidence-based PTSD and trauma therapy from a clinician who works in this area every day. Unfortunately, specialized trauma treatment is not always available close to home.
At PTSD Therapy, we provide secure virtual psychotherapy to adults across Ontario. While our practice is based in Toronto (Etobicoke), we work with clients throughout the province who are experiencing PTSD symptoms, traumatic stress, or moral injury.
Virtual therapy allows you to access specialized care without spending hours travelling, taking unnecessary time away from work, or limiting your search to the therapists available in your immediate community.
Who We Help
Our practice focuses on adults whose lives have been affected by trauma.
Many of the people we work with are:
Adults recovering from medical trauma
Adults recovering from interpersonal trauma, including childhood abuse or neglect, sexual assault, domestic violence, or other traumatic experiences
Some people come to therapy after a single traumatic event. Others have been carrying the effects of repeated or cumulative trauma for years.
You may find yourself avoiding reminders of what happened, feeling constantly on guard, replaying events long after they have ended, struggling with sleep, becoming more irritable, or wondering why you no longer feel like yourself.
You do not need a formal diagnosis of PTSD to benefit from therapy. If trauma continues to affect your relationships, your work, or your ability to enjoy life, it may be time to seek support.
Why Virtual Trauma Therapy Can Be a Better Fit
Virtual therapy is about much more than convenience.
For many people recovering from trauma, it removes barriers that might otherwise prevent them from accessing specialized treatment.
You are no longer limited to choosing a therapist simply because they happen to have an office nearby. Instead, you can choose someone whose training, experience, and approach are the right fit for your needs.
This can be particularly important if you are looking for treatment that focuses specifically on PTSD rather than general mental health concerns.
Many of our clients also appreciate that they can attend therapy from a familiar environment. After discussing difficult experiences, there is no commute home. You are already in a place that feels comfortable and familiar, allowing you time to process the session before returning to the rest of your day.
For individuals working shifts, living in rural or underserved communities, balancing family responsibilities, or travelling regularly for work, virtual therapy often makes consistent attendance much more realistic.
Research continues to demonstrate that evidence-based trauma therapies delivered virtually can be just as effective as in-person treatment for many individuals.
Structured, Evidence-Based Trauma Therapy
PTSD Therapy is dedicated to the treatment of trauma-related conditions.
Rather than offering open-ended supportive counselling, we provide structured, evidence-based trauma therapy that is designed to help you understand why your symptoms developed, what continues to maintain them, and how they can begin to improve.
Every treatment plan begins with a thorough assessment and is tailored to your individual experiences and goals. While therapy remains collaborative and flexible, it also has direction and purpose.
Following your assessment, we will recommend the evidence-based treatment approach that best fits your symptoms, goals, and experiences. Depending on your needs, treatment may include Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), or Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT).
These therapies have been extensively researched and are recommended by clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of PTSD.
Many people come to therapy concerned that they will spend years talking about what happened without seeing meaningful change.
That is not our approach.
Our goal is to help you understand your symptoms, develop practical skills, process the impact of trauma using evidence-based treatment, and ultimately reach a point where therapy is no longer needed. Treatment is intended to be purposeful, time-limited, and focused on helping you move forward.

Specialized Care Wherever You Live
One of the greatest advantages of virtual therapy is that you no longer need to choose between staying close to home and receiving specialized treatment.
Whether you live in a large city with many therapists or a smaller community where trauma specialists are difficult to find, you have access to the same evidence-based care.
This is particularly important for healthcare professionals, first responders, and others working in demanding roles. Long shifts, unpredictable schedules, overtime, and family responsibilities can make travelling to appointments challenging. Virtual therapy allows you to access treatment without adding unnecessary stress to an already full schedule.
For people living in smaller communities, virtual therapy also provides greater privacy. Some individuals prefer receiving care outside their local community, particularly when confidentiality feels especially important.
Our focus remains the same regardless of where you live. We provide specialized PTSD and trauma therapy that is collaborative, structured, and grounded in current evidence.

What to Expect
Therapy begins with a comprehensive assessment where we take the time to understand your experiences, your current symptoms, and what you hope will be different.
Together, we develop a treatment plan based on your goals and determine whether one of our evidence-based trauma therapies is the right fit.
Throughout treatment, you will gain a better understanding of how trauma affects the brain and body, why certain symptoms continue long after the event has ended, and how recovery happens through structured, evidence-based treatment.
While therapy can be challenging at times, you will never be expected to move faster than is clinically appropriate. We work collaboratively, ensuring you understand the rationale behind the treatment while moving at a pace that supports meaningful progress.
Our goal is not simply to help you manage your symptoms. It is to help reduce the impact trauma has on your daily life so you can move forward with greater confidence, flexibility, and freedom.
