Therapy Services

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can develop after experiencing or witnessing trauma, such as childhood abuse, sexual assault, serious accidents, or exposure to trauma in the workplace (including military, first responder, and healthcare settings). These experiences can have lasting emotional and physical effects; however, recovery is possible with appropriate treatment and support.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT):

CPT is a highly effective, evidence-based therapy designed specifically for PTSD. This is a one-on-one treatment that runs over 12 weekly sessions, each about 60 minutes long.

During CPT, we’ll look at how your trauma history has shaped your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Together, we’ll work through the places you’ve gotten “stuck” - especially self-blame, shame, and guilt - so you can change unhelpful patterns and feel more in control of your life.

CPT is widely recognized as a front-line treatment for PTSD, and it can be a powerful step toward healing.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE)

Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) is another highly effective, evidence-based treatment for PTSD. This one-on-one approach runs over 10 weekly sessions, each about 90 minutes long.

PE helps you gently and gradually approach the memories, feelings, and situations you’ve been avoiding. Instead of steering away from painful memories or triggers, you’ll learn safe, guided ways to face them. This process can significantly reduce PTSD symptoms, improve your day-to-day functioning, and restore a sense of safety and control.

PE may be a good fit if you:

  • Avoid people, places, or situations connected to your trauma

  • Spend a lot of time on high alert or hyper-vigilant

  • Feel fearful in situations where you once felt comfortable

Through PE, you’ll learn proven techniques to change your relationship with your trauma and regain a fuller, freer life.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression (CBT-D)

Did you know that a history of trauma often leads to depression even more frequently than PTSD? If depression is your main challenge, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression (CBT-D) can be an effective path forward.

CBT-D is a one-on-one therapy tailored to help you understand and change the thought patterns that contribute to depression. We will work together over 5 to 20 sessions, depending on your needs. Through this process, you’ll learn to identify unhelpful thoughts, replace them with healthier ways of thinking, and develop positive behaviours that support your emotional wellbeing.
